I am Dr. Gayathree, a gynaecologist by profession, an artist by passion, and a homemaker to my two beautiful angels- Gowri and Malvika.

Today, I warmly welcome you to Kadambari, a small universe of my own, where creativity takes shape through art. Here, fleeting thoughts are transformed into tangible expressions, inspired by the beauty and emotions of real life.

Many might wonder how the seemingly divergent worlds of medicine and art can ever coexist. While I have devoted fifteen years to the practice of gynaecology, art is where my soul truly finds its voice.

To paraphrase the great Russian writer, Anton Chekhov-

“If medicine is my lawful husband, painting is my secret lover.”

My love affair with the canvas began long ago in the tranquil town of Palakkad, Kerala, where I spent my childhood. There, each season arrived drenched in its own distinct palette. Summer wore the hues of ripe mangoes, golden paddy fields, and vibrant yellow cassia flowers. Then the rains would sweep in, bringing a spectrum of greens—from the tender emerald of new paddy saplings to the lush, deep fronds of wild ferns.

Beholding these sights filled me with a sense of awe that demanded expression. I began capturing these shifting landscapes on paper, and from that moment, art became an inseparable part of my life.

When destiny placed a scalpel in my hands, I took it wholeheartedly. Yet, somewhere along the way, I forgot that my other hand still held a brush. I clung to the illusion that by healing others, I could also heal myself. How mistaken I was. At times, the gentle, imperfect stroke of a brush can nurture the soul far more deeply than the precise incision of a scalpel.

Today, I stand at the confluence of both worlds, where science sharpens my mind and art nourishes my spirit each enriching the other, shaping not only my profession but also my perspective on life and humanity.
